A lot of work goes into making a poster. I usually need to cover at least two or three games to get a good selection of images to work with and then the tough part - coming up with a design concept. Nearly every poster I've created is more than just a bunch of photos and the athlete's name. In addition to the time spent shooting, on average, two or more hours are spent on each piece. The time is spent searching for photos in the PhotoNews archive that show the power, focus, concentration and hopefully emotional intensity that you expect from professional athletes. On top of having some aesthetic quality, the chosen images have to fit the design concept.
Congratulations to St. Joseph-Ogden's Bria Olson and Rachael Graham as well as Unity's Dani Gooch, Aeriel Fender and Kasie Woodworth. I wish each athlete the best of luck in the post-season and a great spring sports season.

P.S. - The one thing that I've never told anyone until now is each poster has a special or hidden meaning or message. As I mentioned above, each poster is more than just pictures and few words on page. Almost every print or design concept goes beyond being eye candy. In the months ahead I will decipher the hidden messages associated with some of my favorite creations, facts the owners don't even know about their senior poster.
