July 4, 2011 - Champaign, IL - With 100 yards to run, Michael Lodesky, of Urbana, heads to the finish line running in the 2011 Freedom Celebration 5K. Lodesky, who finished second in his age group division, crossed the finish line at 18:02.4.

John Popovics finishes second in age group at Freedom 5K


July 4, 2011 - Urbana, IL - John Popovics, of Philo, runs behind Christina Frye, of Champaign, during the 2011 Freedom Celebration 5K. Frye, who finished second in his age group division, finished the race at 21:17.0.

Ryan Thompson Runs Best 5K At 2011 Freedom Run


July 4, 2011 - Champaign, IL - Former St. Joseph-Ogden distance runner Ryan Thompson passes another runner with 40 yards to go in the 2011 Freedom Celebration 5K.  Thompson, who is now a distance runner at North Central College in Naperville, ran his career best road 5K time finishing at 16:34.

July 4, 2009 - Urbana, IL - Jacob Mahaffey of Mahomet, IL, runs in the 2009 Freedom 5K Run/Walk.


Champaign, IL - Every year the Champaign County Freedom Celebration 5K Run/Walk grows more and more competitive. Last year, 19 year-old Mahomet resident Jacob Mahaffey ran a 15:32.9 to take the title.  His time last July was almost eight seconds faster than the 2009 winner's.  That year, he finished ...
