Fruhling leads SJO with double-double

December 5, 2011 – St. Joseph, IL – The seniors on this year’s St. Joseph-Ogden girls’ basketball team floated like butterflies and didn’t need to sting their opponent Monday night with threes in their latest display of hard court domination. For a third consecutive game, the Spartans defeated an opponent by 15 or more points this season in their 48-28 Sangamon Valley Conference win over Watseka.

In the photo above, on her way to game-high 17 points, St. Joseph-Ogden's Josey Fruhling puts up a shot in the second half.  The Spartans defeated the visiting Warriors, 48-28.

Out of the seven games played this season, only two, Schlarman (11/14) and Paxton-Buckley-Loda (11/18), presented much of a challenge to well-condition, lighting quick squad. Monday night’s contest was a rerun of the past couple with five senior starters all doing their thing … no, make that ‘thang’ – simply because their performance was so good against Watseka.

December 3, 2011 – Champaign, IL – The St. Thomas More girls’ basketball team probably have a little more … no check that … an enormous glide in their strides and pep in their steps after toppling the Lady Irish of Bishop McNamara at Parkland College Saturday evening. The Sabers, who in all previous meetings suffered losses to the Kankakee area Catholic School powerhouse, won the annual meeting by five, 55-50.

St. Joseph-Ogden's second win meaningful victory

December 2, 2011 – St. Joseph, IL - Whenever Paxton-Buckley-Loda pulled away on the scoreboard, host St. Joseph-Ogden managed to tug their way back into their Sangamon Valley Conference game Friday night. The Spartans, who were playing their second game of the season and the underdogs to the visiting five-game veteran Panthers, the win was meaningful.

“It was a big win early in the season, especially for our group. We have a lot of guys without varsity experience,” said SJO head coach Brian Brooks. “It was a really good win against a very good team.
